BEST PRACTICES, TIPS, AND TOOLS
MCi’s – Track Software helps owners manage contractor cost

Managing contractor cost and reporting during projects, shutdowns, turnarounds, and outages has always been one of the biggest challenges for our clients. PPMG has recently partnered with Management Controls (MCi) the developers of one-of-a-kind software suite, Track© and Forecaster©. Track offers Owners the opportunity to simplify their contractor management. Track© creates total transparency between terms and conditions of each agreement with the invoices supplied by contractors. Track© eliminates errors and redundancy at every stage of the contractor management process.

PPMG believes in the value of the Track software so much that we are building our own ‘Center of Excellence’ based on providing additional services to clients using MCi’s Track solution.
— Frank Truesdale, Principal, PPMG

PPMG is working with some of our clients to implement and get the most benefit from the Track© software solution. The reduced cost and improved reporting results in millions of dollars saved. Contractors also benefit from the system with quicker payment terms & reduced risk from auditing after project completion.

PPMG believes in the value of the Track software so much that we are building our own “Center of Excellence” based on providing additional services to clients using MCi’s Track© solution. These services  include: Trained program managers and administrative consultants to run the program; offsite support/call center; temporary onsite staff support; training; auditing; Gap analysis; reporting; and other support as needed. These services enhance the project management services PPMG already provides to our clients.

PPMG IS DEVELOPING CORE© INTO A WEB-BASED EV AND PMO TOOL

PPMG is moving CORE© to a web based tool and soliciting feedback from interested clients. Some of our customers are already familiar with CORE©, our tool for tracking earned value (EV) on your projects. Now, we are working to develop CORE© into a holistic tool for all of your PMO and EV reporting needs. CORE© is a tool that can accept data from multiple sources and provide consistent reporting that is based on principles from the PMBOK guide. The EV that is calculated by CORE© can feed your Forecasting system. If you are interested, we would like to hear from you about your needs and ideas.

ARE YOU USING PRIMAVERA – EPPM FOR YOUR ENTERPRISE PROJECT PORTFOLIO?
Clients can realize the benefits of improved reporting across projects and sites

PPMG has discovered that a lot of our customers are not utilizing the Primavera P6 scheduling system to its full capability. This is particularly evident in the lack of understanding and use of the Enterprise Project Portfolio Management solution. Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (Primavera P6 EPPM) is an integrated project portfolio management (PPM) application that includes role-based functionality to match each team member’s needs and responsibilities. It provides executives with a real-time view of their organization’s project performance and equips project participants with the right blend of usability to effectively execute projects. P6 EPPM enables workers across all levels of an organization to analyze, record and communicate reliable information and make timely decisions. Primavera P6 EPPM can easily scale from a single user on a small project to tens of thousands of users engaged in millions of activities across hundreds of projects, both on premise and in the cloud.

Reasons for not using the EPPM solution range from “not knowing enough about it” to “not having the time and resources needed to implement it across the enterprise.”

As an Oracle Gold partner, PPMG has the capability to further educate its clients on the benefits of this tool.
